Pinellas County Updates Reclaimed Watering Restrictions in North County
Effective Sunday, June 22, Pinellas County Utilities has announced an important change for residents using reclaimed water north of State Road 580. Thanks to an increase in reclaimed water supply, customers in this area are now allowed to irrigate their lawns twice a week based on their street address.
Here’s the new irrigation schedule:
Addresses ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8: Watering permitted on Tuesdays and/or Saturdays
Addresses ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9: Watering permitted on Wednesdays and/or Sundays
Mixed or no address properties (such as common areas): Wednesdays and/or Sundays
Important restriction: Watering is not allowed between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on any day.
Pinellas County Utilities Director Jeremy Waugh emphasized the importance of water conservation even as rainfall increases:
“It’s the most important action we can take to sustain our water supplies, meet future needs and reduce demands on Florida’s water-dependent ecosystems such as springs, rivers, lakes and wetlands. It can also help our customers save money on their water bill.”
Water-Saving Tips for Homeowners:
Install rain sensors to avoid unnecessary irrigation during wet periods
Harvest rainwater to water flower beds, herb gardens, and potted plants
Regularly check irrigation systems for leaks or overuse
These new guidelines are part of the county's broader commitment to sustainability and long-term water management. Adhering to these updated rules not only supports local ecosystems but also promotes smarter, more efficient water use in your neighborhood.
